Al di là del bene e del male, che hanno valore finché c’è una scelta da fare, la notte è male solo per il giorno, che però avverte di non essere il tutto. Il sogno finisce iniettato nella veglia perché non sappiamo fare della veglia un sogno. La droga, tutte le droghe, pesanti o leggere, compreso il tabacco, l’alcool e tutte le varianti contemporanee, sono condotte di esorcismo: esorcizzano la realtà, l’ordine sociale, l’indifferenza delle cose.
La droga non piove dal cielo. Noi produciamo droga e anti-droga, e in ambedue i casi non possiamo né non produrre droga né evitare di contrastarla. Il successo della droga sta tutto in questa situazione immodificabile e paradossale. È un processo che noi stessi abbiamo scatenato e che si svolge ormai senza di noi con l’implacabilità di una catastrofe naturale; regna, fortunatamente o disgraziatamente, l’inseparabilità del bene e del male, e quindi l’impossibilità di promuovere l’uno senza promuovere al tempo stesso l’altro.
